“Elephants across Africa and Asia are being poached for their ivory at increasing levels,” says WWF.  Fortunately, there are many local human populations, national and international organizations and governments in the world often working together to save elephants and their habitats, groups in Asia and Africa, and even with elephant sanctuaries in the United States.

Pandas in the Wild Filmed by WWF Camera Traps Offer Rare Glimpse of Habitat and Species Conservation in China

On 22 May 2013 the WWF released dozens of photographs and video footage of endangered species captured by camera traps in the mountainous giant panda reserves in China, marking this year’s International Day for Biological Diversity. With the footage, taken since 2011, WWF conservation officers have gained a better understanding of the identification of animal traces and areas of their activities, the study of the impact of human activities on the species and management of nature reserves, according to Jiang.


Simple Tool Helps Companies Address Water Risks

A global online tool launched today, March 28, 2012, by WWF and German development finance institution DEG (Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH) enables companies and investors to address their water-related risks. WWF and DEG have created a practical online questionnaire that not only identifies water risk in supply chains and investment portfolios, but also provides practical steps to mitigate risk.

 


Over 1,000 Species Newly Discovered In New Guinea

Final Frontier: Newly Discovered species of New Guinea (1998 – 2008), a WWF study reports that 1,060 new species have been discovered the island of New Guinea from 1998 to 2008.
